Mauve-ing Along

I woke up this morning and immediately noticed something was off. So rather than sit around and over-analyze (although I did let that get the best of me for a few minutes), I decided there was no point in wasting energy or time on something that I have no control over. Whether something is or isn’t wrong, it will work itself out how it’s supposed to.

Doing this is a lot easier said than done, especially for me, usually. But today I won. Today, I listened to my own advice. I began my morning with a Melissa Wood Health workout, listened to a motivational podcast, and took time on myself while getting ready. It sounds strange, but getting ready is half the battle for me sometimes. When I’m down or under the weather, it’s a serious mission…but after allowing some time for self-care and self-love, I got going!

Today, I went with more of a fall vibe for makeup. I wanted something that looked the way I felt and wanted to feel. I used pink, mauve, and gold all over. Why those colors? Pink stands for sweet, nice, playful, cute, romantic, charming, feminine, and tenderness. Mauve is the hue of decadence, youth, and femininity, evoking feelings of purity and devotion, with the moodiness of a deeper purple. Finally, gold is cousin to yellow and brown, and is also associated with illumination, love, compassion, courage, passion, magic, and wisdom.

This isn’t your typical beauty post, I know. But sometimes, doing the silliest of things can make you feel a whole lot better. For me, today, it was makeup. I would love to hear some of the weird/funny things you do to help boost your mood! Leave a comment below or follow me on Instagram (@lauraejansen) and chat with me there!

Until next time…stay golden!

Oh, and don’t forget you can shop all of the beauty products I used below!

Beat anxiety with a beauty blender!

  1. When I am down I like to do a whole spa day with Mask and full on skin care. And then a great makeup application to make me feel optimistic.

    1. That’s another go-to for me! I sort of did that this morning, but with yoga/pilates and a face mask! Definitely in need of a spa day though
